From Ethernet to optical fiber
The media converter can be connected to a daisy chain network. The maximum number of cameras that can be connected to the daisy chain depends on the bit rate generated on each camera. The limit between the camera and the media converter is 100 megabit connections, while the limit between media converters is 1000 megabit connections. Axis t8604 does not have IGMP snooping function.
For remote connection
Optical fiber connection is usually used in urban monitoring, airport and other remote facilities. In these application scenarios, it may face the risk of lightning stroke or require a long connection distance. The on-site monitoring integrator can also connect the facility's monitors and laptops to the axis t8604 for camera maintenance and control.
Simple conversion and installation
Media converter is compatible with all of axis's network video products. Axis camera / encoder can be connected to the axis t8604 via the RJ-45 port, while the two SFP slots also provide the flexibility for the installers to connect the camera to the network cost effectively over long distances. RJ-45 connectors can also be used to connect supplementary cameras or temporarily connect laptops for local system maintenance.
